Q. Why do I need to register? What are some of the benefits of registering at SCST? Does it cost anything?
A.
By requiring users to register their usernames, we are not only creating unique identities for all users but are also making repetetive tasks (such as commenting on an article) so much easier by using a login system.

Aside from the obvious benefit of being able to add your own comments and opinions, you can also:

Participate in polls
Customize site colors
Add articles to your favorites list

and a bunch of other features. To see a better, more explainatory list of SCST features, go over to the registration page.

Registration at SCST doesn't cost you a dime. With a couple minutes of your time you'll be registered, logged in and making comments.

Q. I have an article from the [insert newspaper here], can I post it to the site?
A.
Well, yes and no. It depends on a couple different things:
*If you're registered at SCST and have 100 or more posts, you can indeed add the article to SCST for discussion! You will see a link under "My Account" to the left to add an article.
*If you're registered but have less than 100 posts, or are unregistered, you will be unable to add the article yourself. You can, however, send the link to an admin of SCST and have them post it - use the Suggest an Article form!

Q. I've forgotten my password, how do I retrieve it?
A.
If you have (which you should have) set your password hint and answer, you will have to provide the answer to your hint with the Password Retrieval form. After completion, your password will be sent to you.

If you haven't set your password hint/answer, then please use the contact form, providing as many details about your login as you can remember (an email address should be included). Hopefully an administrator can sort the problem out for you.

Q. My account has been locked - can you help?
A.
Whenever a user account is locked, this means that said user has most likely been taking part in "malicious" behavior on the site. If you'd like to discuss the matter further, please use the contact form and state your case.

Q. How do I go about logging in on a shared computer?
A.
Because the site uses cookies, you will have to make sure that you click "Log Out" whenever you are done on SCST. The Log Out text is at the bottom of the My Account box on the left.

Q. I have a great idea for a poll. Can I add a poll?
A.
Currently, only administrators can add polls. Because of abuse seen in other forums/discussion boards, SCST has decided that for the time being only administrators should administer the polls. If the situation changes and we get enough feedback in the future, it may change. If you have an idea for a poll, you can use the contact form to suggest it to the administrators.

Q. What's the difference between "Recently Active" and "Most Popular"? Is there one?
A.
Good question:

Recently Active ranks articles of all categories according to what happened last. For instance, if an article has just been added, it is automatically at the top of that list. Whenever another article, however, is commented on, it then takes the top spot and then the new article gets bumped down once.

Most Popular uses a ranking feature specially developed for SCST that takes into account such things as page views and the number of times it has been commented (among other things). All new articles will automatically take the top spot, but the article right behind it can quickly take its place.

Q. My questions weren't answered below. Now what?
A.
Unfortunately, you have reached this point, and all we can tell you at the moment is that you will have to use the contact form to get in contact with us regarding your problem. We will respond as quickly as we can to try and get you on your way.
